Parokya ni Edgar is a band formed by a group of Ateneo de Manila high school students in 1993. They were famous for their unconventional and often satirical cover versions of pop songs. Soon their repertoire varied from album to album, moving through different genres – alternative rock to pop rock to rap and funk. Through it all, they inject a comic twist to their songs.
Bamboo
Bamboo is a multi-awarded rock band formed by Francis “Bamboo” Mañalac with Ira Cruz, Vic Mercado and Nathan Azarcon. The group’s name came from the resilient and durable bamboo and not from Mañalac’s nickname. Two of their very popular and multi-awarded hits are “Noypi”, and “Hallelujah”. They have released four albums to date.
Hale
Hale is a very popular and multi-awarded rock band formed in 2004. They have been signed up by EMI Philippines, now PolyEast Records and have released 4 albums under this label. The group is getting ready to release a new album in 2010. Their most successful album was Hale, their debut album released in 2005 which has been classified as Triple Platinum having sold over 90,000 copies.
Imago
Imago is another multi-awarded pop rock bands creating waves in the Philippine music arena. They have released several studio albums and collaborations with other well-know bands. Some of their songs have also been used as commercial jingles. One of their most popular songs is the bouncy “Taralets” from their third album, Blush, released in 2006.
Itchyworms
Another Filipino rock band is named Itchyworms. They have released five studio albums and several compilations and music videos. Itchyworms gained commercial success and their songs have been made into soundtracks of well-known consumer brands for their advertising campaigns. They have also been commissioned by some high-profile companies to write songs for their commercial jingles.
Kamikazee
Kamikazee is a Filipino rock band. They have released several rock albums and had hits like “Girlfriend”, “Ung Tagalog”, and “Tsinelas”. Their “Maharot” album was released in 2006 in which the carrier single, “Narda” became very popular. This later became the theme song of “Darna”, a primetime TV show over at GMA-7 starring Marian Rivera.

Sandwich debuted in the Philippine rock scene in 1995. The five-member band has released five studio albums from 1998 and have some of their popular songs turned into soundtracks fro primetime TV shows and product jingles. Sandwich won several major awards from NU Rock Awards, Awit Awards and MYX Music Awards.

Callalily is named after the group’s favorite brand of bread. The five-member pop-rock group has received numerous awards since their debut in 2006 and have released three albums since: Destination XYZ (2006), Fisheye (2008) and Callalily in 2009.

Rivermaya
Rivermaya is one of the most influential multi-awarded rock bands. They debuted in 1993. This prolific band has released several albums here in the Philippines and in Asia. Their success has led the band to a series of concert tours in Southeast Asia, USA and Canada. Notable former band members are Bamboo Mañalac, Rico Blanco and Nathan Azarcon. “Himala”, “Kisapmata”, “Ulan”, “214” are some of their most requested and awarded songs.
